We meet regularly; here you can find the updated progress of the EnergieKraam (Ppoint 23Mb, Dutch).
To be continued.
INSTALLATION OF THE EnergyConstruct DURING ARTFESTIVAL ARTIBOSCH (1st of Sept. 2013)
The installation has provided several users of solar energy and attracted a lot of interest of festivalvisitors.
>> A beamer was connected first taking 243W of the 230V produced by the inverter; as that being more then the 300Wp panels could deliver on a day with scattered clouds, we decided to switch off the beamer after the battery sank under a level of 11,8V (ca 25A) during usage; we then continued showing presentations of the development of the EnergyConstruct on laptopscreens only.
>> Every next hour we provided a panel with a private batterycharger or connected a panel serial until 6 panels (6x100Wp) were working, as follows:
-2 panels parallel on the construction connected to a chinese loader;
-1 panel on the construction with 1 panel standing in front connected to a chinese loader;
-2 panels in front of the construction independently connected to a selfbuild loader;
All panels delivered between 2-3A during sunshine, obviously less with clouds or when someone was standing in front of the panels that were in front of the construction. This appeared to be a good opportunity to demonstrate the effect of shadow on panels.
By putting the ampere-measure-pliers on the specific cable the differences in power delivered by the specific panel could be visualized.
>> A computer with monitor (+/- 35W on 100% clarity), doing the measuring, ran continuously; being directly connected to the 12V battery (via converter 12>5V, ca 2,8W). Once in a while the monitor switched on-off automatically (screensaver modus).
>> After the use of the beamer a drill/polish/cut-machine of a present goldsmith was connected. During normal use this machine took 40W of the 230V inverter, while the information/facts on the machine said 650W.
>> Two laptops as mentioned earlier, having their own adapter, were running continuously on 230V, using about 100W in the beginning but running back to 60W usage.
>> Once in a while a 24V 50W soldering iron was running for some soldering work.
>> A penlight batterycharger of 12V was running from 11.00-17.00u.
Interesting part of the whole construction is the battery as well:
When can we use batteries that are less destructive to our environment?
Already some ideas.

START OF THE DEVELOPMENT
In the ReparatieStraat the question appeared to develop a so called ‘Energiekraam’, so users could work more independently off the grid; for example during events, agricultural camps, biketours, mobile workingplaces etc.
Location: Studio Leidi Haaijer, Parallelweg 30F, Den Bosch, The Netherlands :: 13.00-18.00u
Concept: to research and develop several forms/constructions that can be used & made by individuals. When the construction works effectively it can be reproduced; during this proces we will help.
During this process of research & development traject we aim to attract as much knowledge present in our surroundings to hav information flow; third parties will be approached for specific applications.
This practical way of working focusses on the growth of awareness on energyuse and the growth of knowledge and crafts for who ever may be interested.
The EnergyConstruct contains solarpanels and by means of specific electronics a diversity of smallscale personal electric tools can be charged and used; de ReparatieStraat is testcase (charging laptops, lights, batteries, chargers for other use, sewing machines, light electric tools, electric bike etc.)
RESEARCH 1: figuring out as universal as possible converters in relation to existing semi-manufactured products.
Research 2: developing a design for a mobile construction, a cart ie.
Research 3: to design the construction in that matter it can be reproduced by layman easily to make knowledge sharing possible on different levels.
Research 4: attracking potential partners step by step starting in the neighbourhood, from business to county council (the city council had the ambition to be energyneutral in 2040), from individual to groups; making the construction & sharing knowledge.
TTDenBosch WANTS TO COOPERATE IN AS MANY WAYS AS POSSIBLE AND CAPABLE TO ENLARGE THE LOCAL RESILIENCE.
Joining the project? You are invited to mail your ideas and proposal so we can plan a meetup: energie@leidihaaijer.nl of rien@mertensmaatwerk.nl
